MORE ABOUT THE HIDEOUT
Restorative Retreats were first hosted at Zapata Ranch in 2020. After Zapata’s guest ranch operations came to a close, it was time to find a new partner. We searched high and low, and to our great relief, we have absolutely fallen in love with The Hideout. Their property is immaculate, their horses are gorgeous, their attention to detail is unmatched and we are so excited to have found such an intentional partner.
We cannot WAIT to share The Hideout with you all.
Every retreat includes
One-of-a-kind Hideout experience complete with breakfast, lunch, dinner, luxurious private accommodations, and absurdly beautiful riding expeditions with a resident Wrangler. Your experience will be set apart with guided Restorative teachings by Amy Shenk, and you’ll return home with a photo gallery by Amy’s co-lead, EB Combs.

FAQ
How do I book?
Simply hit the “Request to Book” button. You’ll submit a short questionnaire and be provided the number to call The Hideout directly to secure your spot at the retreat.
What is the payment schedule?
The Hideout requires a 30% deposit with the final balance due 30 days prior to arrival. The remaining balance is processed on the credit card on file unless notified otherwise. Accepted forms of payment are: cash, check, wire transfer, American Express, MasterCard and Visa.
Lodging Details
Each stay includes a luxurious private room and bathroom.
Is the retreat only for women?
As of 2024, the Restorative Retreats will exclusively be offered to women-identifying individuals only. We all participate in a good amount of intimate session as a group, so creating a safe space for all individuals is top of mind.
What if I have specific dietary restrictions or allergies?
Gluten and dairy free dietary restrictions can be accommodated. As The Hideout is located in a remote area, it is difficult and very costly to accommodate all dietary requests. Specifically, vegan diets are unable to be accommodated. The Hideout’s culinary focus is healthy western fare.
What should I wear/pack/bring?
We are suckers for a good packing list. Once you’re booked, we’ll email our curated packing list directly to you. The Hideout also offers daily rentals for chingaderas which are shorter chaps perfect as an added layer for chillier days.
What is the riding vibe and pace?
The Hideout has an incredibly intentional natural horsemanship riding program with their own brand and style — Authentic Horsemanship. On Monday, we’ll all go through an intro session together to get acquainted with their program. This will empower beginners and intermediate riders with specific instructions as our expert riders get invited into how to excel within their program. Throughout the week, we’ll ride in smaller groups based on riding skill levels for curated riding experiences.
Best recommendations for transportation
Most guests fly into either Cody WY or Billings, MT and then get to Shell, Wyoming by rental car. A shuttle service is available via Billings. We are also happy to make carpool introductions when convenient.
Is the Restorative portion religious or spiritually related?
The restorative portion is science-forward as it highlights how our nervous system interacts with stress and offers guidance on how to better regulate. As a licensed therapist, Amy is keen on helping others connect with their physical bodies through challenging seasons and events.
What does gratuity look like for the retreat?
Guests can add a tip for Hideout staff during checkout. Cards and cash are both accepted. Tipping your retreat hosts, EB & Amy, would be separate and is also wholly at your discretion—venmo & cash accepted.
What is the cancellation policy?
The Hideout is a small family-owned guest ranch and cancellations have a significant impact. All deposits and payments are 100% non-refundable if a reservation is cancelled for any reason within 90 days of arrival date. Reservations cancelled more than 90 days prior to arrival receive a refund of all payments less a $250 cancellation fee per person. Rescheduling within 90 days of arrival will be treated as a cancellation. We strongly recommend guests take out trip insurance for unexpected life events.
Are payment plans available?
After the first payment of 30% of your retreat cost is made, you are welcome to make additional payments. Otherwise, the remaining balance will be due 30 days before arrival.
