Seasons Change but Some Things Stay the Same
One of the best things about being in Colorado right now is that I am able to experience a true fall. The weather is becoming cooler and sometimes the smoky smell of a bonfire wafts through the air.
In the spirit of the season, I took a drive into the mountains this past weekend to take a peek at the aspens in some of their glorious color. The bright orange and yellow of the aspens stood in stark contrast to the evergreens that clung to the mountains and foothills.
While traversing in the hills, I noticed that even though I loved the beauty of the aspens, I couldn’t help but appreciate the continuity of the evergreens. No matter the season, the evergreens hold their color…
As usual, this got me thinking about life and I couldn’t help but see a connection of myself to the trees and their styles of adaptation to the season. There are things in my life that change and grow with the seasons, but some of who I am will always stay the same. Within the framework of my vision and goals I see the evergreens as my vision and values, steady and strong, beautiful even in the bitterest cold of the winter. The aspens represent my short-term goals, sometimes green and fresh but then they are transformed into something else every few months.
Both are beautiful, both are important, and both create the forest.
I hope you are taking the time to cultivate your goals and I hope that you see the beauty of the process.
Happy Monday!
