Do you share your goals? I believe sharing your goals is a necessary step in achieving your future plans.
Here are my favorite reasons for why I share my goals:
Enrollment- People who hear about your future plans get excited for you. And if others know about your goals, they are more likely to help you… Mainly because they know what the heck is going on in your life.
Accountability- When I share my goals with people I am able to receive accountability, and when those pesky (awesome) people know what I want to be up to in the next few months/years, they ask how my goals are coming... By the way, that goal to write every Monday, it’s going pretty well! And I am about to start grad school so that’s pretty great/terrifying. #goalcrusher
Feedback- Recently I shared some of my vision and goals with a couple here in Denver. I want to be up to some really big stuff in the next 5-10 years so my heart always races a little when I share what is going on in my vision. I got some great feedback and guidance from them, which I never would have heard if I wasn’t open to sharing what I want to accomplish in the future.
Unfortunately when you share your goals you will probably also experience negativity from other people. And I would recommend that you patiently listen to what they have to say while taking a really close look at their lives... If they are impressed with themselves when they get up to check the mail and call it exercise, their opinion on your desire to run a marathon may not be that helpful. [Obviously that is a drastic example.. but you get my drift.]
Happy goal setting and sharing! Let me know if you have any questions, need inspiration, or require some additional coaching. I am here for you!
